Been hearing that a lot of alumni are in a fume because they feel that the UP Fair or Feb Fair in our campus continuously becomes more and more tedious every year. I totally, totally disagree! Of course, a “fun” fair is relative, that is why. Any fair could be cool or boring to anyone. For me, even if the UP Fair scenario would be like this: not as much “pakalat-kalat” alcoholic drinks to douse our livers in as before and the number of mainstream bands that play on stage are not more than two, I know I could still have fun. All I really care is that I get to bond with my UP ADS hommies in our resilient bamboo booth; and I get to hug my other hommies from other organizations in other booths. (Oh! too many "other" in that line.)

And those were what exactly happened last Friday night. Less drinks, less bands. More bonds, more hugs. Well, for some, it was more than just that. Because of an extra treat, which made the event really memorable.
The fair fair started to get so much better when, on my way to Los Banos, I heard from my bestfriend that my most favorite band was scheduled to play that night. The band already played last year but I wasn’t able to catch them for some un-sober reasons. So upon learning the fresh news, my nerves roused to an emotional response. I was freaking excited. I had never seen them perform live. I could have, when I planned to go to their anniv concert with the Manila Symphony Orchestra last year, if only I wasn’t ran out of tickets three weeks before the event. Worst regret I have. Anyhow, I’m not a huge fan of the band, just of their music and lyrics. (Magkaiba ba yun? Siguro. It’s like this, I don’t adore the charcters in the band, not like how I adored Backstreet Boys in my early teens.) When our feet or rather our slippers touched LB ground at 8.30pm, I couldn’t wait any longer, but had to. Around 11.30pm, when we felt that the band was setting up on stage, we pulled our asses off the grassed field and ran towards the stage. Me, May, Patrick, Yen were together. Syempre na-excite, nagkawalaan lahat. At the not so backstage, we saw him; this generation’s god of pinoy music, Ebe. Then our faces lighted as if ours are the best energy-saving bright light bulbs ever invented!
Okay, so I realized I also like the band. Not as loco as a BSB fan, but I like them, not just their music and lyrics. Haha. And as all four of us are makakapal ang muka, we asked our friend Bart (Ebe’s highschool batchmate and friend) to do something for us, because he was one of the group accompanying the band since they got in LB. He obliged to our request. Bart talked to Ebe and the former took this shot.
Yipee! Then after that, we moved to the east part of the crowd in front of the stage and just watched them perform. I was absolutely happy that night. Fair wasn’t just fair, it was excellent!
