What’s for lunch?
February 27, 2008Would you please pass me the ketchup, mustard, or any other condiments that you have there in your kitchen? I think will be needing those to as I am about to eat my words.
What’s the thing about?
I am expecting to see myself as a call center trainee soon.
Okay, so on my last remaining days in college, I told my friends and myself that I WILL pursue a CSR job here in Pinas right after I graduate. I wanted to do so just to have a few years of work experience, which I (according to my Tita) would need in order to land a job that is in
After seven months in an anarchic office in Ortigas, I became a bummer. I was enjoying my newly found career at home for quite sometime when my parents started giving me their undisputed special attention.
It’s not that they did that to kick me out of their house, let me do the work, and then collect my money afterwards. (Pang sindikato?!) In fact, they never asked anything from me when I started earning my own money. I knew that they were picking on me because they’re just tired of seeing me wasting my time, energy, and skills on basically, nothing. I understood that. But then again, QLC a.k.a quarter life crisis was an issue (and I think it still is) that I tried to overcome myself.
Then one day, my mom egged me on to do something, for the nth time.
“Wag mo ng intayin yung sinasabi mo na gusto mong trabaho sa *toot*”
“Eh anong gagawin ko?”
“Bakit di ka NGA kasi mag-call center?”
“Ayoko NGA nun, iba pag call center.”
“Eh kesa GANYAN ka.”
Classic.
Ganyan ka.
The most “malaman” line anyone could ever use!
Hmm, is it…
e.) all of the above… and more! Haha!
Okay, it could be letter E. It is letter E. I know.
Anyway, that “ganyan ka” line made me think about taking risks and wasting time, and how the two would work for me. I finally considered applying for a CSR position, and since my good friend, Louie, was constantly asking me my resume (for referral pay’s sake,) I finally sent it to her. Fortunately, I passed the exams and interviews, and all I need to do now is to complete my requirements, because only then will they ask me to sign a contract and start my training. (
Hmmm, so, where are the ketchup and mustard? I’ve almost finished my not so scrumptious meal!

I myself had these moments too, when I almost applied for a call center. Well, luck was on my side and I got a job I’d wanted since college.
Don’t worry, Australia’s waiting.
oh and here’s the ketchup. =)
Posted by thenomad at February 28, 2008, 12:03 amHaha, I can relate. I can so relate. Ganyan din sa bahay pag jobless ako. Bwiset. Actually, maski me trabaho na ako, ganon pa din sila.
Good luck sa call center industry. Been there, spent 9 months doing that. Masaya sya in the right account, pero the wrong account and mas bangag ka pa pag labas mo kesa sa Intel.

thenomad, how i wish i, too, have a “job that i wanted since college” din.. you’re lucky you’re not fickle-minded like me.
harvey, baka satellite cable or automotive account ako, sana madali lang yun. wala pang sinasabi eh, though i’ve already signed a contract. pinapili ako sa csr and tsr right before iprint ang contract ko, but i chose csr knowing i don’t have any background sa kung anik anik na teknikal. but i just learned madali lang din ang tsr at at at mas mataas ang compensation. eh di sana matututo pa ako sa troubleshooting stuff. sana nagtanong tanong muna ako sa mga may experience like you.

-ayan magkakajob ka na for sure, so you can ask your mom that you’ll be the one to pay the bills na
Sang call center naman? God Bless sa new job! Go lang ng go! Life is too short for us not to try new things! God Bless uli!
Posted by Kei at February 29, 2008, 3:44 pmicka, i will surely do that. thanks sa pagbasa at pagcomment.
Posted by betamax at February 29, 2008, 9:50 pmAye caramba!
Good luck sa CSR gig Ja! I swear, bwiset sya if you don’t have a lot of patience and enjoy fixing everyone else’s problems without reminding them that it was their own stupidity that caused the problem. Rewarding once in a while yung mga calls where okay yung customer, pero most of the time, frustrating sya. Depends lang sa agent whether the rewards are worth the aggravation. Tech support is much the same. This is regardless of the nature of the account.
The first one problem kasi ang daming compatibility and fitting issues involved sa any automotive account. Not to mention the possibility of customization on the car. Sat cable naman e tipong “fix it now or I’ll sue” ang mga customer.
Walang technical know-how required.
Posted by Harvey at March 2, 2008, 9:54 pmsige, sana makayanan ko ‘to.:) buti nalang pala talaga csr ang sinagot ko.
Posted by betamax at March 2, 2008, 10:59 pmOoh.. I know that account: Directv.
Arm yourself with a lot of patience for stupid effin’ customers, silly rules and you’ll be okay.
